The
south is home to many true Americans who love their country, so one tradition
in the south is a Fourth of July annual barbecue. There is no better way to say
happy birthday to America by throwing massive slabs of ribs, juicy steaks, and pork
tenderloins on the grill. After cooking all of these delicious meats, you
devour them only to feel it the next morning while sitting on the toilet. That
right there is the American dream. To a southerner there is nothing better than
eating as much barbecue as your stomach can take, while having a good time with
family and friends. Although this is not the only time of year people in south
barbecue, it is a great day to have one.
Fourth of July is not
the only event where traditional meals are consumed by the southerners;
however, another time for a great meal is New Years. Most southerners will not
go a year without missing a typical New Year’s meal: some type of pork, black
eyed peas (not the band), and southern fried cabbage. Southern tradition says
that you should eat 365 peas for good luck every day of the year, which could
be pretty tough to do if you’re not a fan of them.
