Polish Diet
Polish Diet
~Blog Post #4~

On all honesty, because of American
food, Polish people needed to learn how to diet and stick to what they knew
best, which are their own roots of cooking. From personal experience, I don’t
exactly need a specific diet to maintain a healthy weight when I eat Polish
food. Everything Pols make is from fresh and pure ingredients. The main aspect
of a Polish diet is simply not eating late. In America and other countries,
people eat very late at night, which can actually cause more negative results
than positive. All my life, dinner was between 3 and 5 p.m. When someone would
come to my house around those times, I would offer him or her dinner and in
exchange, I would get a very confused and judgmental response. When I eat late,
I feel so out of structure and place because I get extremely bloated and I don’t
feel healthy. Normally after dinner, if I get a little hungry, I eat a light
snack to fulfill me for the rest of the night. When my mom looks on the back of
any food product she buys, she always chooses the one with the least amount of
ingredients because less is more. Polish cuisine has always stayed the same
because it never failed to keep us satisfied. Bigos, which is very high in
calcium, is part of a daily diet for Pols because of the nutrients it provides.
Part of the Polish diet is that we don’t normally snack a lot unless we are
truly hungry. The size of every meal is decent and well proportioned. It’s not
too much or too little, it’s just enough. On an everyday basis, a light meal
would be having a piece of rye bread with butter, lunchmeat, tomato’s, and
chives. Whenever my grandma visits, every morning for breakfast she would make
me a delicious sandwich just like that. Even sprinkling a little pepper and
salt on every Polish dish is common.
