Any person
that is of the slightest of French descent will tell you that wine is a must
have when it comes to French cuisine. Wine isn’t only used as a drink in France
but is also used in the preparation of numerous dishes. As stated by
RealSimple.com, “both red and white wines are staples in any French kitchen.”
Wine in France is so big that not only is it used in the cooking but nearly
every meal has a wine that it is paired with. Well, that’s not hard when you
are known around the world for your wine I guess. France has seven main regions
that are known for producing some of the best wine in the entire world. These
regions are Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, the Loire Valley, Alsace, Languedoc
Roussillon, and The Rhone Valley ( in alphabetical order/ not a ranking). Bordeaux is known as the red wine hound in
France. They produce the most and the best red wine out of any of the regions.
Burgundy is known for both red and white wines, however it is known mostly for
their Chardonnay. The Rhone Valley is
known for having some of the best bargains on red wine. Alsace is known for how
they name the wines, by grape type not place of origin. The Loire Valley is
known for having spectacular whites. And lastly Champagne is known for the
World’s best, well, Champagne.

I am seeing a parallel with the British culture here. Instead of wine, the big drink in the UK is beer; warm beer to be exact! Just like in France with wine, you can go all over the UK to taste different types of brews. The UK is known for its wide variety beers and ales like France is known for its wine. In both France and the UK, these beloved drinks are more than just a drink. They are a good taste, and a way of life for brewers and pub goers across the nation. People in the UK and France both love to have their beer and wine with a meal, respectively. People in the UK also love import French wines as wine is seen as posh in the wealthy parts of London. You will find French wine at almost every posh restaurant in London.
