The Spanish
Culture is known for a wide variety of things: bull fights, Flamenco music and
dance, Ibiza’s Parties, the soccer clubs of Real Madrid and Barcelona, and many
fesitivals that take place around their beautiful country. However, one the
most important things that Spain is known for is their food. When I was choosing
my country, I wanted to research a place that I wasn’t too familiar with. I
have always heard of Spain and their culture but I haven’t ever really looked
into it. I thought that this project would be a good time to find out more
about the food, people, and places that helped formed Spain into the place it
is today. When people think of Spain it is common to instantly imagine the delicious
food that comes along with it. Tapas, churros, rice, and tortillas are a few of
the most well-known dishes. The Spanish culture closely identifies itself with
the Roman Catholic Church. They take time and dedication to celebrate Semana
Santa which we know as Holy Week each year. Spaniards host large parades and
other religious events in honor of this week. The Spanish culture has been
influenced by many others, including Roman, Jewish, and Andalusian traditions. Pork
is a one of the most foods to them. It was not eaten by Jews and Muslims so it
is their own statement of Christian ethnicity. On days of celebration, pork is
one food that can always be found.
